Setup guide

How it works

A quick overview.

How does it work?

  • Your main PC captures the keyboard and mouse input.
  • That input is sent to the ESP inside Key Hopper.
  • Key Hopper recreates the same input on the HID Client PC (the PC where peripheral input is emulated).

This is intentionally the short version, without deep technical details.

Two modes

  • Keyboard Mode (optional): hardware forwarding only (works in BIOS/UEFI too).
  • Clipboard Mode: same hardware forwarding + shared clipboard (requires HID Client on the HID Client PC).

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who is it for?

Anyone with a second laptop or PC who wants to control both systems with one keyboard and mouse (including an HID Client PC).

What is the latency?

In practice, it is barely noticeable. It feels close to having your peripherals plugged straight into the HID Client PC, with much less delay than most network-based sharing tools.

How do I switch PCs?

You do not switch manually like with a typical KVM. By default, you switch with Ctrl + F1, and you can change that shortcut in the app.
